Our Material Plane
Physically the largest country on the main continent, Ruslan’s population mostly rests in the capital city, Margarit, and in the “City among the Trees,” Minsgorod. The government of Ruslan rests in Margarit, where the Sovereign directs matters of state. The Sovereign may rule for life, though usually he steps down once his popularity has dwindled. The appointment of the Sovereign is based on a “meritocratic” system, awarding the highest rank to the most distinguished member of the royal court, though only rarely does a figure outside of the aristocracy gain access to the position.
Minsgorod rests in the fringes of the Great Forest, which spans nearly two-thirds of Ruslan’s land. This city usually isolates itself from the government of Margarit, though it has come to the call of its neighbor in past emergencies.
Ruslan is a brisk place and holds a faint glimmer of magic in its wild, leading some to believe that it has some connection to the Feywild. The Great Forest seems to be the source of this aura, and at its northern edge stands Drasil, the enormous tree rumored to be the source of mortal life on this world.
Ruslan has allied itself with Fife in the past, but the current Sovereign wishes to keep his country out of any skirmishes with Antenora, Caith, and O’rland. It is unclear where Ruslan would stand if war broke out.
