Our Material Plane
In the years after the Shift, gods, demons, and all powerful forces clashed and vied for sole dominion over the planes of existence. They carried out the initial moves of this game on the material plane, taking men as their pieces. Higher powers thrived or died as they butted heads, and they paid little attention to the movement of 6 seemingly minor pieces—a dwarf smuggler, a changeling assassin, an orphaned wildling, an arcane tradesman, an embittered holy man, and a wise old bug. It was Lancaster, a player thought to be out of the game for good, who first recognized the potential of these pieces. He left them his remaining power and with it a gift of self-determination, and these men were elevated to the status of players. They rode the storm of Lancaster over the pawns of the remaining players, halting their schemes and prying their hands from the material plane. The game essentially wiped out the pantheon of gods, and so these Stormwalkers filled the void left behind. They turned their gaze back to their home plane, hoping to amend for the damage left behind.
